يستعين القرآن الكريم في نقل المفاهيم العميقة ومتعدّدة الطبقات، كعذاب الله، بأساليب بلاغية متنوّعة، يُعَدّ من أبرزها المفارقة أو التناقض الظاهري (البارادوكس). فهذا الأسلوب، عبر الجمع بين مفاهيم تبدو متضادّة، يهيّئ مجالًا للتفكّر ويُسهم في تعميق فهم المتلقّي لقضايا مثل العدل الإلهي والرحمة الإلهية. تتناول هذه الدراسة، بمنهج بلاغي–تفسيري، بيان الوظائف الدلالية والهدايتية لأسلوب المفارقة في الآيات المتعلّقة بالعذاب الدنيوي والأخروي الموجَّه إلى فئات كالعصاة والكفّار والمنافقين. وتهدف هذه الدراسة أساسًا إلى تحليل دور التنافر المفهومي في تحقيق التوازن بين الخوف والرجاء، والارتقاء بمستوى التدبّر في آيات العذاب، وشرح حقائق تتجاوز التجربة الحسيّة. وقد أظهرت النتائج أنّ أسلوب المفارقة لا يقتصر على البعد الجمالي، بل يعمل أيضًا بوصفه أداة فعّالة في التنبيه، والدعوة إلى التوبة، ودفع الشبهات، وتحريك الفكر، وكشف الحقائق الغيبية. ومن ثمّ، فإنّ هذا الأسلوب، إلى جانب جماله اللفظي والمعنوي، يؤدي وظائف دلالية عميقة يمكن التعويل عليها.

The Holy Qur’an, in conveying profound and multilayered concepts such as divine punishment, employs a variety of rhetorical devices, among which paradox (mufāraqa) stands out as one of the most significant. Through the combination of seemingly contradictory notions, this device creates a reflective context that deepens the audience’s understanding of notions such as divine justice and mercy. This study, adopting a rhetorical–exegetical approach, explores the semantic and didactic functions of the paradoxical literary device in Qur’anic verses pertaining to worldly and otherworldly punishment of groups such as sinners, disbelievers, and hypocrites. The main objective is to analyze the role of conceptual incongruities in establishing a balance between fear and hope, enhancing contemplative engagement with verses on punishment, and elucidating truths beyond sensory experience. The findings indicate that mufāraqa (paradox) is not only an aesthetic feature but also serves as an effective rhetorical instrument for warning, calling to repentance, addressing doubts, and stimulating intellectual reflection, while also revealing aspects of unseen realities. Therefore, beyond its verbal and semantic beauty, this rhetorical device exhibits significant semantic and interpretive functions.
