Language plays a fundamental role in shaping literary narrative, as narrative stylistics reflects how narrative language is used to evoke the external world and reconstruct it within the text. This study investigates the manifestations of resistance discourse in the novel The Journey of Oppression by Raghda Mohamed Al-Masri, focusing on how resistance is embedded in the narrative structure and expressed through stylistic features. The research aims to illuminate the author’s creative approach and to identify the stylistic techniques that distinguish the novel.
Using a descriptive-analytical method grounded in stylistic analysis, the study examines key narrative elements to explore the interplay between form and resistant content. The findings reveal that the novel’s title functions as a dense semantic threshold, creating a linguistic paradox between "journey" and "oppression," which establishes the poetic dimension of the resistant narrative. The main character, Qahira, exemplifies the transformation from the oppressed to an active agent of resistance, supported by secondary characters who reinforce the collective aspect of the struggle. Spatial and temporal structures further enhance this effect, with enclosed spaces becoming arenas of endurance and the temporal framework highlighting the continuity of resistance across generations. At the event and descriptive levels, intensive depiction and realistic documentation transform experiences of oppression into an aesthetic resistant discourse.
